Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Born in 1907, dead at 47,she achieved celebrity even in her brief lifetime that extended far beyond Mexico’s borders. Frida Kahlo underwent more than thirty operations in the course of her life, and most of her paintings relate to her consequent suffering.
