Virtual Tour of the J Paul Getty Museum

With more than 6,000 years’ worth of creative treasures, the Getty is one of the best places for art on the west coast of the US. Go from neolithic clay figures to Van Gogh’s Irises and Renoir’s La Promenade – just two of many artworks that feature in the virtual tour.

Google Arts and Culture offers a “museum view” tool to look inside gallery spaces, with clickable artworks presenting further information. The Getty’s sunny sculpture plaza and garden terrace are worth adding to your digital trip, via another viewing platform, Xplorit.

Learn How David Hockney created his most important exhibition ever, in lockdown

‘I think it looks terrific,” says David Hockney. “It’s all on one theme, isn’t it? And there’s not many exhibitions like that, really, a show all about the spring.” The 83-year-old artist is taking a look around his new exhibition at the Royal Academy in London for the first time.

He seems happy with it – and rightly so, for it is hypnotic and ravishing. But while I am getting a sneak preview in person, Hockney is here only virtually, his face appearing on two screens, one a giant TV, the other a small laptop.

 Painting On a Holiday

Do you know what’s better than a staycation? Painting on a staycation!

Painting at The Jumeirah Al Qasr

Our ArtLover, Michelle decided to take the We Love Artbox experience to her staycation with her mom. Isn’t that incredible?

What could be better than painting an amazing masterpiece with your mom on holiday? We are stunned by what they both have created!

Would you try it out? Let’s see what she had to say about her experience.

The Experience

Michelle and her mom absolutely loved the idea of painting on a staycation.
It was the perfect opportunity to relax and get their creative side out, and the step-by-step guidance made it easy for them to produce two amazing masterpieces!
She said it was the main activity that kept them entertained during the heat and really enhanced their holiday. We are so glad the We Love Artbox made their experience so heavenly.

 ArtLovers Quote Of The Week

“I would rather die from passion than boredom”  Vincent Van Gogh

We Love Art Painting of The Week

Claude Monet painted The Poppy Field in 1873 on his return from the United Kingdom (in 1871) when he settled in Argenteuil with his family until 1878. This beautifully depicted summer’s day is captured in all its glory with the vibrant poppies complementing the wispy clouds in a clear blue sky.

In the landscape, a mother and child pair in the foreground and another in the background are merely a pretext for drawing the diagonal line that structures the painting.
