Your weekly dose of some good and interesting news from around

Virtual Tour of the British Museum, London

The British Museum, in the Bloomsbury area of London, England, is a public institution dedicated to human history, art, and culture. Its permanent collection of some eight million works is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence, having been widely collected during the era of the British Empire!

This iconic museum located in the heart of London allows virtual visitors to tour the Great Court and discover the ancient Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies. You can also find hundreds of artifacts on the museum’s virtual tour.

The meaning behind the Treachery of Images

René Magritte, the Belgian surrealist painter created The Treachery of Images when he was 30 years old.

Magritte loved word games.

He was also determined to prove that the painting and poetry were on an equal footing despite the Surrealists’ constant flaunting on the pre-eminence of the written word.

Magritte caches the gap between the language and the meaning. His statement is taken to mean that the painting itself is not a pipe; it is merely an image of a pipe.

Artist Of The Week by We Love Art

The best part of WLA is watching our Artlovers unleash their inner artists and leave us speechless. So it is time to show off what our community is creating all around the world.

Georgina Vickers

Meet our Artist of The Week, Georgina Vickers. She has attended recently some Paint & Grapes and has loved the experience!

We love what Georgina has created so far and her creative spark. We are proud of you Georgina, and are beyond happy that you are part of the We Love Art community!

The Experience

I have absolutely adored my journey with We Love art so far; it has reignited my creative side while giving me an opportunity to experience complete mindfulness while creating my very own pieces of art!
After attending a couple of paint and grape sessions, I took the plunge and signed up for the level 1 painting course to broaden my experience and learn new skills. I love the course and have met fantastic people too! – Georgina Vickers

We Love Art Painting of The Week

Blue Dancers, or Dancers in Blue, was made in 1895 and is amongst the most famous Edgar Degas ballet paintings.

Ballerinas were one of his favourite subjects to paint simply because of the rhythmic allure of ballet. The painting is one of the very few works where the artist opted for cool tones.
